If you don’t have a mailing list for your website then you need one! Learning email marketing best practices is a great way to interact with your visitors. If visitors haven’t come to your site in a while you can send them reminders about you! You can also offer those customers special discounts or coupons in an attempt to win them back. It’s easier to keep a repeat customer than get a new one. If you treated them well in the past they will remember it. One of the best email marketing strategies I’ve seen belongs to a clothing company I frequent. They have a feature that will automatically send a customer a reminder e-mail if something in their cart is about to go out of stock or something they want has been re-printed. I’ve ordered shirts several times so I could get them before they sold out. Or because I had wanted one that sold out on me before!
Try offering people a coupon or discount to sign up for your mailing list. This is a very good practice that could net you a good return on investment. You’ll take a very small hit on profit for the first order, but getting that contact information is much more valuable. This allows you to market to an already interested client for the infinite future. This means you can market upsell products or other stuff to them!
You can also try giving something away from free. This could be an excerpt from your ebook or products, a free demo of your software, or even a contest where you give away a material item such as clothing. Simply advertise your promotion to people and ask for their e-mail address to send them your goody. They’ll be signed up for your promotional list and you most likely will get a lot of interested names. You should use social media to your advantage for this type of marketing plan. You could get a lot of exposure if you’re giving away something good! People like to pass around freebies and contests. You could even make part of the entry that they have to share it to social media! (Extra sneaky!)
Make sure to pick a catchy subject line when writing your mailer to get people to notice it. Something like “save 20% off for ONE DAY only” or something similar that expresses urgency. A sale gets people to buy when they otherwise may not have bothered. A limited time offer stops them from saying “someday” and gets them to purchase now so as not to miss the deal on the item they’ve been thinking about purchasing.
You’re also going to need good e-mail software. Just sending out a plain list is fine, but you’ll be missing out on a lot of great features to help you make more money. I can recommend Get Response email marketing software to you for example. It has lots of great features like premium templates, free stock images, and integrates into all the popular social networks!
