Make money on your unused domains with free content management from WhyPark!

It’s that little spark. An idea that forms in the blink of an eye that makes you go “ah, hah!”. The dollar signs fill your eyes, and before you know it you’ve registered a domain for this brilliant plan. If you’ve found yourself with too many projects on your plate those domains may be sitting doing nothing.

Many people suggest domain parking, which does make many people a pretty penny. However, the only real way to make money with regular domain parking is by using a high volume domain. This means you need to register an expired domain which has many backlinks, and traffic going to it. A developed website that has died, and people are still trying to visit it in vain. The only problem with this is that eventually that traffic will die.

The second option is to either by a very popular type in key word domain, or a typo domain. A typo domain is something like ‘Hotopic.com’ where you cash in on people trying to get to the real site at ‘HotTopic.com’.  This are very hard to get as the majority have been swooped down on already.

Another thing about typical parking programs is that they do NOT allow any advertising of your parked domains. You are only allowed to receive generic search engine traffic, which is not likely with a site full of nothing, but ads. Linking is against parking site’s terms of service, and will get you suspended.

I prefer to register catchy brandable names so those aren’t doing me any good. However, a very attractive service that just became 100% free has a more tasty option. This service is called WhyPark, and they will do the dirty work for you for the most part. I’m experimenting with three domains to see what I can make with it. Two from old projects, and one I registered based on keywords. I’m testing with..

AnalogJunkie.com

I registered this domain for an online store project that I’ve abandoned for now. I may pick this up again later.

VagrantFashion.com

I registered this name for another drop shipping/affiliate type of store that was not nearly as profitable as I’d hoped it would be.

KenyanSafari.net

This I registered just for an experiment. I picked it off an expired domain list to test how well I could do with domain parking with keyword based domains.

Now, Why Park is different than services like Go Daddy Parking, because they give you real content. You can make an article rich website in a few minutes. Enter your website url, point the domain to the Whypark servers, select a category, and pick some keywords. My finding so far for this month..

Parked Domains: 3

Visitors: 53

Page Views: 131

Searches: 7

Clicks: 1

Revenue: $0.30

Traffic statistics per site

Analog Junkie – 44 visitors

Vagrant Fashion – 5 visitors

Kenyan Safari – 4 visitors

Oddly enough, the highest traffic site did not supply me with my one click. That was the lowest visitor site, KenyanSafaris. We did learn though, that backlinks will supply the biggest surplus of traffic. Which, in a standard scenario the highest traffic site will almost always recieve the most clicks if the ads are properly targeted. By using Yahoo’s site explorer tool we can see the following information about these three sites.

Analog Junkie – 13 indexed pages, and 65 backlinks.

Vagrant Fashion – 7 indexed pages, and no backlinks.

Kenyan Safari – 3 indexed pages, and no backlinks.

I’m still wating for my actual article pages to be indexed. The pages from Analog Junkie, are actually older pages from my previous site work. However, my site map should work to correct that problem. Each of your whypark domains will get its own self-updating site map. You can submit this to help get indexed, however keep in mind it may still take a while for a new domain.

You can also add custom CSS, extra pages, links, ect. to your WhyPark site. Remember, WhyPark will park anything you make for no charge to you.

While, reading up on this service I came across a guy that makes $80 a day doing this with his domains. Keep in mind that he has about 300 domains working for him. I don’t expect to make any vast amount of cash parking three domains, but experiments are always fun. Plus, they’re collecting dust anyway!

So, the key points to take away from this experiment if you’d like to try out this method.

*Backlinks – Post your url on forums, blogs, or anything else to get a link out.

*Keywords – Target your keywords appropriately to your subject for the best articles.

*Category – List in the appropriate catagory, especially if you want to list said parked domain for sale too.

Mostly from my own use of the service. Those are my sites parked there. Though there is significantly more work involved than with parking by generating back links. However, it can help you make some money on non-type in domains.
